House price inflation dropped by 1% in July to 4% for the month with house prices standing at a national average of £186,207 up from £184,162 in June, say the latest figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM).
The three-month average rate of inflation for house prices stood at 5% and 1.4% for London. The ODPM says the rise in UK house prices between June and July can largely be attributed to increases of 2.1% in the prices of detached house and 1.3% for bungalows. Average prices for semi-detached houses rose 0.9%, terraced houses also rose 0.6% and flats rose 0.4%. Regionally the inflation rate in England fell from 4.1% in June to 3.1% in July, Wales saw the rate of house price inflation fall from 10.8% to 7.6% and Scotland saw the rate fall from 14% to 12%.
