More than nine in every ten advisers believe the label ‘independent' should not be solely determined by remuneration, research suggests.
The Skandia adviser survey found 93% of respondents believe remuneration was not the most significant factor in determining whether an adviser could call themselves independent. Instead, 61% feel the range of products advised on is vital to clarifying independence, while only 7% believe remuneration was the most important factor.
