Continued pessimism among pension paying Brits

As many as eight in ten people contributing to their pension expect they will not have enough money to live on at retirement, new research indicates.

A survey conducted by Stockbrokers Brewin Dolphin, finds respondents expect their pension pot will be 30% lower than their desired income, a figure of around £159bn, while 58% think their retirement will be 20% lower than needed, and 7% believe it will be over 71% less than they originally hoped to build. Moreover, the stockbroking firm finds young people aged between 18-24 are most pessimistic about their future pension payout, as 81% expecting to see low returns compared with their needs.
