A joint HM Treasury-DTI paper on the future of the EU's Single Market suggests the government wants to make it easier to cooperate across borders on matters of fiscal policy
In a document titled ‘A vision for the Single Market in the 21st Century’, the Treasury and DTI outline UK proposals feeding into an ongoing review of the Market being carried out by the European Commission (EC). Among these is the idea because of globalisation, no country can afford to develop fiscal policy in isolation of others’ needs.
