Around 80% of the working population say they would be able to afford the minimum contribution to a new system of personal accounts.
Research from B&CE Benefit Schemes reveals eight of ten workers believe they could afford the 4% minimum contribution, despite almost five million people claiming they are not saving for the future. The survey of almost 800 workers highlights one in four workers - 4.7 million people - are not saving anything for retirement, and suggests 59% of these are also ignorant of the tax benefits of saving in a pension.
