An IFA has called on the government to implement a system where a flat rate pension is provided to all, as pensions in divorce can be particularly destructive for older divorcees.
The alert comes on the back of recent research from the DWP, suggesting women believe it is the job of their partner to provide for retirement, while they worry instead about the needs of their family. It also finds women ‘rarely’ have a clear idea of retirement, finding it to be a remote concept, often attached to the retirement of their partner.
