In the UK the FTSE 100 Index climbed 7 points, or 0.1%, to 5485.20 at its close stocks including SABMiller and BAA rose. BP Plc, Europe's biggest oil company, paced declining shares.
SABMiller, the world's third-largest brewer, added 19p, or 1.8%, to a record 1,107p after analysts increased its 12-month share-price forecast 19% to 1,250p, saying the brewer's businesses in emerging markets will bolster profits. BAA, the world's largest airfield operator, climbed 11p, or 1.8%, to 623.5p. BP lost 5p, or 0.7%, to 678.5 on news crude oil may decline next week as the highest gasoline prices since 1981 lead consumers to reduce fuel purchases.
