Equity release the next big thing say advisers

Advisers expect equity release to "shake up" the mortgage market in 2009, a Trigold broker survey suggests.

The poll by the mortgage sourcing firm saw 95% of respondents say it will be either 'very important' or 'important' in the future. Trigold says its study was designed to establish attitudes about the future of the equity release market, in terms of how important advisers see the equity release market for themselves and their clients. While a quarter (24%) said the market was not important currently for consumers, that plummeted to just 6% for its future importance.
