MmO2 helped the FTSE 100 index add another 23 points to 4,538 this morning, another 52-week high.
The mobile phone company added 18.75p to 110p after Dutch competitor KPN admitted in a statement that it had had merger discussions, but that unfortunately the two companies could not agree on a price. Standard Chartered jumped 20p to 944.5p after US competitor Citigroup announced the $2.7bn acquisition of a Korean bank.over the weekend. Reed Elsevier is up 8.5p to 812.5p after an upgrade to ‘buy’ on the stock by analysts at Dutch Bank Oyens. Vodafone is up 2p to 140p as it regains strength following the ending of plans to acquire another operator in the US. BHP Billiton is down...
