Asking property prices typically rose last month - Rightmove

A 2.4% surge in the asking price of UK homes between January and February has been termed ‘typical' as estate agents gear up for a ‘customary' spring pick-up in the housing market.

New research from property site Rightmove.co.uk reveals the average UK asking price jumped £4,321 to £193,830 between January and February, along with a rise of 132,000 newly marketed properties with agents having on average 31% more properties to sell. Rightmove says the housing market picks up in February from a ‘festive slowdown' as estate agents compete with each other to build their stocks of properties for sale in the new year.
