Despite a lack of cross-party interaction, the opposition have agreed to take government comments about building a pensions consensus at face value.
While speaking at the Industry Forum, James Purnell, Minister for Pensions Reform, told the meeting the government was serious about developing a cross-party consensus around the white paper reforms. He says the government was encouraged by the initial consensus when the white paper was published, but he says it wants to “deepen that consensus by engaging with Opposition Parties”.
