United Utilities confirms it is considering a "number of expressions of interest" in its Vertex business.
A spokesperson says the FTSE 100 parent company is regularly approached by City institutions proposing a variety of projects. This has especially become the case following the appointment of chief executive Philip Green recently, the spokesperson says. As is often the case when such an appointment is made, the parent company is clear that there will be no area of business not subject to scrutiny in the chase for greater shareholder returns.
