Earlier this year, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) began consulting on whether the fixed annual review should exist in its present form. A policy statement is expected later this year, which may outline whether something more flexible, built around need-based periodic reviews to meet Consumer Duty requirements, is a more sensible approach.
