Advisers express equity release concerns

Advisers feel the clarity of equity release plans needs improving, according to Bridgewater Equity Release.

The firm says feedback from its recent broker breakfast forums suggests advisers are looking for greater focus from providers on the 'cost, value and clarity' of plans, in a bid to help make the variety of options less complex for their clients. It says brokers pointed, in particular, to lifetime mortgage early repayment charges, which they felt could be restrictive and overly complex, especially those that are linked to gilts.
