The FTSE 100 Index is 0.2 points lower at 5,972 points this morning, with global investors cautious ahead of an interest rate decision in the US.
Standard Chartered has fallen 3.08% to 1,477p after Singapore's state-owned investment firm Temasek agreed to buy an 11.55% stake. Vodafone has declined 0.8% to 123.50p ahead of the release of outlines of proposed EU regulations aimed at cutting the cost of using handsets abroad. Analysts say the plans could hit earnings of mobile operators hard. Mining companies, such as copper miner Kazakhmys, which has risen 2.47% to 976p, and oil firms are supporting the market as copper prices trade near all-time highs, silver holds near 22-year highs and US crude oil is steady above $64 a barrel. ...
