Friends Prov may re-enter group life market

Friends Provident is considering re-entering the group life market by the end of the year, according to its head of protection marketing Ian Jefferies.

The firm withdrew from the market just before A-Day because it felt the pensions regulations added complexity to group life products. Now the regulations have settled down, Jefferies says the life insurer is looking to re-enter the market by the end of the year. In addition, the firm plans to extend its online underwriting system - eSelect Protection - for life policies and critical illness cover to income protection (IP) by the fourth quarter of this year.
