House prices slow dramatically in the South

Monthly house price growth in London is now below that of Yorkshire and the Humber, according to the Land Registry's latest house price index.

The September index shows positive house price growth, with a 0.4% change between August and September and annualised growth of 8.7%. Prices in London increase by an average of 1.3% in September, to £354,272, while Yorkshire and the Humber saw a 2% rise. London still has by far the highest annual growth, at 16.5%. The South of England and the Midlands saw prices fall over the past month, with the South East and South West both registering a 0.3% decline.
