Britons shun pensions system - papers 21st Nov

ALMOST TWO fifths of Britons say they have lost faith in the private pension system and say it would take "an act of God or the Government" to make them reconsider investing, according to the Daily Telegraph .

Almost a quarter of the people surveyed by YouGov said they never have or never would invest in a pension, says the paper. The research, commissioned by Instant Access Properties, found 47% of Britons have failed to make any provision for their retirement. About 68% expect to rely heavily on a state pension. The survey comes as the Government wrestles with how to fund a growing pension bill as more people enjoy longer retirements and how to encourage people to save more for their old age.
