Applying new regulations covering the mortgage sector will cost an estimated £500m compared with FSA estimates of £150m, according to a speech by Building Societies Association chairman John Parker.
The latest, higher, figure comes on the heels of the Council of Mortgage Lenders’ estimate mortgage regulation could cost £250m. Whatever the estimate, it is likely to be passed on to consumers, Parker warns. IFAonline
