FSA hires adviser on UK retail banks

A former Abbey National executive director has been hired to provide advice to the FSA on UK retail banking issues.

Graeme Hardie, who also spent 27 years at RBS Group, has been hired on a part-time basis and takes the role from Naguib Kheraj, who has joined JPMorgan Cazenove. Hardie joins at what could prove a pivotal time for the regulation of UK banks following the purchase of HBOS by Lloyds TSB and the wider financial volatility. Also joining the FSA in an advisory role is Ian Marshall, a former chief operating officer at the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), who will advise on wholesale insurance issues.
