House prices down in February

House prices fell 0.5% during February according to the latest report from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister(ODPM).

Average house prices in the UK stood at £179,491 for February, says the ODPM study, down from £180,465 for the previous month. The slight fall in prices between January and February can be attributed to all types of property except flats says the research. England and Scotland saw a modest rise in annual hopuse price inflation in February, while Wales and Northern Ireland both recorded falls. The inflation rate in England rose from 9.4% in January to 9.8% in February. In Scotland the rate increased from 12% to 15.5% over the same period.
