Charities urged to use IFAs

Charities are being urged to break from tradition and seek professional advice on where to invest.

Kevin Streater, chairman of the 490-year-old Richard Cloudesley Charity, which supports churches and the poor in Islington, says trustees should take advantage of the new powers granted in the Trustee Act 2000. Previously, charities could only invest in funds approved by the Charities Commission, but Streater says his charity will now seek advice from Harrogate-based Brook-Dobson Brear Wealth Management Consultants.
