A consumer survey commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions is unlikely to add anything to the pensions debate, despite this being the government's intention, say industry officials.
An interactive survey has been posted on the DWP Debate website to try and gauge consumer opinions on pension reforms and how they would like the market to deal with the pensions crisis. But John Lawson, marketing technical manager at Standard Life, says the way in which the survey is set out is likely to render its findings worthless as the questions direct consumers to only one outcome – the UK should be saving more.
