Proposals in the government's new consultation document on the Single Equality Act could cause problems for landlords and disabled tenants, it was revealed today.
The document suggests that landlords with disabled tenants should be obliged to provide wheelchair ramps and lifts in their properties. Lee Grandin, managing director of Landlord Mortgages, says “The news today that landlords could be obligated to build ramps and lifts for disabled tenants could actually serve to push landlords away from offering disabled accommodation.
