Friends Prov highlights UAE protection gap

Friends Provident International (FPI) has identified a need for client education on critical illness cover in the Middle East as it launches a protection product into the region.

Just over a quarter of United Arab Emirates (UAE) residents have a need for education, admitting their lack of knowledge prevents them from buying life insurance with critical illness cover, according to FPI's survey of 503 UAE residents conducted online. The research also found about 70% of respondents think they are likely to develop a critical illness, yet nearly half of them do not have a life insurance policy that provides cover in the event they do fall critically ill.
