Pensions reform needs to meet three objectives if it is to be effective in meeting its aim of targeting young people who are not saving.

Speaking at a conference hosted by the Institute for Public Policy research (Ippr), James Purnell, minister for Pensions Reform, pointed out the core target for the white paper’s message wasn’t today’s pensioners it was the twenty and thirtysomething generations. To try and stop them becoming the ‘Live Fast, Die Poor’ generations, Purnell says it has to tackle three underlying factors of confidence, complexity and culture.
