The Government's pledge to build three million more homes will not be enough to meet demand, according to the National Housing and Planning Advice Unit (NHPAU).
The independent body, set up to advise the Government on housing policy, suggests affordability will continue to get worse, even if the Government’s target is met. It suggests another 250,000 more homes will be needed to meet demand. The report comes as housing minister, Yvette Cooper, unveils new proposals to encourage local councils to release more land for development and build more homes.
