House price dip spied by DCLG

UK house prices dipped slightly in October from the month before although annualised inflation continued to rise, according to figures published by the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The UK mixed-adjusted average house cost £197,987, against £198,552 in September. However, annualised house price gains reached 8.6%, up from 8% the previous month. Price in London were 10.6% more expensive in October than one year earlier, up from 9% on a similar basis for September. DCLG figures show from mid-2004 house price inflation fell continuously to October 2005 (apart from a spike around March 2005), but since then it has picked up strength.
