OEA calls for redress scheme expansion

The Ombudsman for Estate Agents (OEA) has urged the current redress scheme to apply to all agents.

Releasing its Annual Report for 2004 on Friday, the OEA called for a wider ombudsman scheme to include lettings and property management, surveys and valuations, and the buying and selling of property. Ombudsman Stephen Carr-Smith suggests independent redress should be made available to more consumers, adding: “I have repeatedly called on the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to make OEA membership mandatory for all their members, and I believe we are close to a breakthrough.” He believes the NAEA is committed in getting al...
