We'll back TCF if it leads to 'lighter touch' regulation - advisers

More than 80% of advisers would support FSA initiatives, such as TCF, if they lead to a lighter touch regulatory regime, according to Sesame.

Sesame also says achieving chartered status should be a major goal for advisers but calls on the FSA to recognise the advice profession has reached a high standard in the majority of cases. A survey commissioned by Sesame found 83% of advisers agreed with the statement ‘advisers would have more support for FSA initiatives, such as Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), if higher standards meant we had a lighter touch regulatory regime in the future.’ Paul Dawson, head of Sesame Learning, says the advice profession should be held on a parity with professions such as solicitors and accountants....
