London 'exempt from HIPs' row erupts

A row has erupted over the introduction of Home Information Packs after the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) urged the Government to exclude homes in London from the first phase of HIPs introduction.

Official Government data suggests there are only 70 qualified energy assessors in the Greater London area - just two per borough - and the NAEA is campaigning for the government to introduce geographical phasing due to the shortage. Mike Ockenden, director general of the Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP), describes the NAEA's comments as "feeble".
