The Chartered Insurance Institute, alongside its newest division the Society of Mortgage Professionals, has launched a fact file guide on regulation of mortgage business to help intermediaries and lenders understand the new regime.
Produced by the SMP’s chief executive Richard Fox, the mortgage regulation fact file - which is free to SMP and CII members via the website - contains all the key aspects of the Mortgage Conduct of Business (MCOB) sourcebook and provides practical examples of how various elements should be applied. Fox says five months after the start date of mortgage regulation, there are still individuals struggling to understand how to interpret and apply the rules, and what information should be given to consumers.
