House prices on the up as FTBs return in January?

Annual house price inflation rose by 0.7% in November from 1.8% to 2.5% according to figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) released this morning.

Average house prices for November rose accordingly from £185,398 to £186,431. The rise in house price inflation compares to a fall of 0.2% during the same period last year. Northern Ireland and England saw the greatest rise in house price inflation while Scotland and Wales faltered. The inflation rate in England rose by 0.9% to 1.7% in November and in Northern Ireland rose from 10.7% to 17%. Over the same period the inflation rate in Wales fell from 8.8% to 6.5% while in Scotland the rate fell from 9.3% to 8.9%.
