CII extends simplification programme

Continued strong demand has led the CII to extend its education programme on pensions simplification aimed at advisers who need better understanding of pensions taxation rules.

The Institute claims some 16,000 advisers have already been through the programme – some 1,740 in the past months’ session alone – and it will now offer two more exam sessions in January and April 2007. The programme content seeks to provide “practical guidance on the pensions tax simplification regime" - which came into effect through A-Day earlier this year. The Institute says the decision to extend the programme was taken after reviewing "still healthy numbers" of advisers wanting to formally test they are up-to-date on the latest understanding of the rules.
