Brokers fear estate agents will take Hip business

Mortgage brokers fear the majority of sellers will approach estate agents first in order to arrange their home information packs, the latest research from the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (Ami) claims.

Ami says 88% of mortgage brokers in its most recent census think estate agents will corner the Hip market a year ahead of the proposed introduction of the packs. Ami members were asked how they anticipated meeting clients’ demand for Hips with 7% saying they would produce Hips in-house while 46% said the would white-label third-party packs and 16% said they would establish ties with estate agents.
