Legal & General is withdrawing from the medical insurance market at the end of the month because of poor sales and a desire to concentrate on its core housing and protection insurance business.
Berni Ryan, a spokesperson for L&G, says gross sales of PMI have not kept pace with its life business and the provider wants to concentrate on household insurance where it has a stronger presence. L&G has entered into an agreement with Axa PPP healthcare, whereby customers are being given the opportunity to join Axa PPP when their L&G PMI policies come up for renewal. In the majority of cases, L&G policyholders will be covered on an Axa PPP healthcare plan with comparable benefits to those of their L&G plan, but where this is not possible, customers will be offered the nearest equivalen...
