A survey by Reader's Digest has found that trust in financial advisers has decreased by 4% since 2007, with 36% of respondents stating advisers were trusted 'a great deal' or 'quite a lot'.
Advisers were just one of a number of professions to experience a fall. Trust was higher, at 39%, among the under 40s than among the customers aged 60 plus (33%). The survey was conducted across 16 European countries. Trust in the profession was at its highest in Russia at 42% and at its lowest in the Netherlands and Germany with only 18% and 19% of respondents, respectively, saying that the profession was trusted 'a great deal' or 'quite a lot'.
