Queen's Speech confirms pension reforms

The Queen's Speech today has confirmed the government's proposal reform of the state pension system.

The speech provided no details of the proposed reforms although it has long been known the government intends to restore the link between state pensions and earnings, abolished in 1980 by the Tories, as well as the increase in the age of retirement to 68 by 2044. Other proposals contained within the speech, which again have been expected for some time were the regulation of estate agents and law firms, including claims management companies.
