Minimum standards needed for tele-underwriting

Progress from Royal Liver is calling for the Association of British Insurers to introduce minimum standards for tele-underwriting which all providers must adhere to.

In its response to the ABI’s online and tele-underwriting proposed guidance, Royal Liver raises concerns the issuing of guidance is not a strong enough measure and suggests the ABI introduces minimum standards which all providers must adopt. It states: “Office of Fair Trading and EU legislation becomes a significant barrier to introducing any such minimum standards. We do, however, believe that the benefits that such a suggestion would bring to consumers mean that this is a scenario that should be considered further.” Royal Liver believes there should be a minimum training standard for ...
