Blair should be brave over compulsory pensions - comment

Tony Blair's announcement yesterday that a system of compulsory pensions would not be introduced without the electorate first having a say in its implementation has led to the government being accused of ducking the issue of the pensions crisis.

Noel White, director of Perrins Financial Services,says: I must say I am staggered that the government keeps ducking issues that are going to seriously effect our economy in future years. It seems to me that as Prime Minister, and as an elected government, you need to make decisions that are unpopular at some point. However, Mr Blair suggests that he should ask the voters on their opinion.
