Brokers clash with FSA over dual-pricing at Mortgage Expo

The FSA today defended its stance on dual-pricing during a heated debate on the issue at the Mortgage Business Expo in Manchester.

Jonathan Fischel, head of mortgages and credit unions at the FSA, re-stated the regulator’s position that dual-pricing was not anti-TCF, much to the dismay of intermediaries attending the event. “Lenders are not obliged to deal through intermediaries," Fischel said. "Lenders are not in breach of any FSA rules if they go down this route and not every product in the market will be available to any one intermediary.” His words echo those made by Hector Sants, chief executive of the FSA, at a building society conference two weeks ago.
