BCC defends Government ahead of pension strike

Bill Midgley, president of the British Chamber of Commerce , has come out in defence of the Government's agenda regarding UK civil service pensions.

Midgley says: “We cannot have the public sector holding the government to ransom. The Government must stand firm and not bow to union pressure.” He suggests the TUC "joins the rest of us in the real world", as the cost of public sector pensions is said to be close to £600bn and is therefore considered to be a massive burden on the shoulders of existing and future taxpayers.
