Continued strong rates of house price inflation in England's regions and the home countries has offset falls in house price inflation in the nation's capital, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister says.
The latest bout of monthly house price inflation means a £189,939 price tag on average across England, against the UK average for first time buyers of £143,270. London has not faced deflation, but increases have slowed for the third month in a row according to figures gathered from some 50 lenders. Annualised inflation averaged across the country rose to 14.3% in July from 13.9% in June, the ODPM says. In London, inflation fell to 8.4% from 11.8%.
