John Tiner, former chief executive of the FSA, has been awarded the CBE on the Queen's New Year Honours List.
Tiner stepped down as chief executive in July 2007, being replaced by Hector Sants, after almost four years in the role. He began his career in 1976 when he joined Arthur Andersen, ultimately rising to head of world-wide financial services industry practice in 1997. In 1996, Tiner was asked to lead the Bank of England's review of UK banking supervision and also worked on assignments in Europe, Japan and the US.
