Friends Prov poaches Standard Life's Matthews

Standard Life's head of UK business Trevor Matthews has quit to join Friends Provident as group CEO. He takes over the role made vacant by Philip Moore, who resigned in November following the collapse of the firm's proposed merger with Resolution.

The move comes just two days before Friends Provident will release its strategic review outlining the firm’s future direction. Matthews says the role is an “outstanding opportunity”. “Whilst the current environment is challenging, I plan to put past uncertainties behind and, with the team, profitably grow and develop the business,” he says. “There are many opportunities and Friends Provident is very well placed to capitalise on these."
