Skandia CI claims declined for non-disclosure zero in '08

Every one of the 28 critical illness (CI) claims declined by Skandia in 2008 was due to the definition not being met, it reveals today.

According to the insurer, 226 claims were met last year, representing 89%, with not a single claim declined due to non-disclosure. It paid out £24m in total and the 89% of claims met is up from 87% in 2007. "We've concentrated on ensuring our application forms are clear and user friendly in order to successfully reduce the number of claims not paid for non-disclosure," Skandia protection marketing manager Ian Brown says.
