The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has urged people who have not yet claimed their Winter Fuel Payment to check their entitlement ahead of declining weather conditions.
Compensation of up to £200 applies to individuals aged 60 or over on or before 26 September 2004, while those people aged 80 and over are entitled to £100 extra. The DWP says that pensioners have until the 30th March 2005 to get their applications sent off. Pensions Minister, Malcolm Wicks said: "So far this winter over 11.5 million Winter Fuel Payments have been made, with over 2.3 million customers over 80 receiving an extra payment of up to £100.
