Witan appoints new managers for active approach

Witan investment trust has awarded two new UK and one new European mandate in a bid to increase active equity management within its multi-manager portfolio.

Artemis Investment Management and Marathon Asset Management will both run £75m UK mandates while Varenne Capital Managers, based in Paris, will manage a £30m European mandate alongside existing manager Wellington. The appointments come after the trust’s recent strategic review when the Board recognised there was scope within its risk budget to add alpha to the trust’s portfolio through the appointment of active UK managers.
