The Government may announce an extension of its Stamp Duty 'holiday' in tomorrow's Budget, according to reports.
Last September, the Treasury announced that for 12 months no Stamp Duty would be paid on properties purchased for less than £175,000. Once this comes to an end, the Stamp Duty threshold will fall back to £125,000. However, it appears the Government is considering extending this cut until the end of 2009. The mortgage industry has called for Stamp Duty reform for some time, with the issue top of Mortgage Solutions' Budget Wishlist, published this week. IFAonline
