Ruth Kelly has confirmed a delay in the introduction of Home Information Packs until August 1 as revised guidelines are drawn up.
In a statement to the House of Commons this afternoon, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, said initially the packs will be phased in starting with four-bedroom homes and larger houses. Then as the number of energy assessors grows, Kelly says more homes will be included in the schemes. In addition, Kelly announced transitional measures which will allow sellers - until the end of the year - to market their home as soon as they commission a HIP, instead of waiting for it to arrive.
